Ron Beard advises law firm leaders and corporate legal departments on strategy and long-term vision, prospective mergers and their effective integration, and management issues such as partner compensation systems and client service initiatives. A former chairman and managing partner for a leading international law firm, Ron brings direct experience with leadership and management challenges to his practice at Zeughauser Group.
During his 38-year tenure with Gibson, Dunn & Crutcher, Ron served as chairman from 1991 to 2001 and managing partner from 1991 to 1997. In this capacity, he earned the respect of both partners and industry peers for his impressive stewardship during a period when the firm’s revenues grew from $250 to $550 million. Under Ron’s leadership, Gibson Dunn increased its visibility in the marketplace and deepened its reputation for delivering outstanding client service.
Ron also practiced in the firm’s Corporations Department, where he led financing transactions of all types, including public offerings, private placements, venture capital transactions, mergers, acquisitions, and international joint venture and licensing arrangements. His dual accomplishments—as a leader and consensus builder as well as a practicing lawyer—inform his approach to consulting and make him an invaluable counselor to other law firm leaders.
Ron holds a B.A. degree in economics from Denison University and a law degree from Yale Law School. He served as chair of Denison’s Board of Trustees and formerly chaired the Steering Committee of the California Minority Council Program. He is also a member of the Emeritus Board of Directors of the Constitutional Rights Foundation and serves as chair of the Board of Directors of Callaway Golf.
